The social era will reward those organizations that realize they don’t create value all by themselves. If the industrial era was about building things, the social era is about connecting things, people, and ideas. Networks of connected people with shared interests and goals create ways that can produce returns for any company that serves their needs.

Hm, and yet, increasing number of “social media” platforms are heading in the direction of creating more original content with in house editorials. Look at Tumblr and Youtube. Would be interesting to discuss these things with applying Benjamin’s idea of new technologies always affecting “old” ones, reshaping both (modern art versus new technologies, cinema and television in the 1970s…). There is an article steadily building up in my head as I read more and more texts on original and editiorial content emerging in places that before were considered more of a communication channel or “just” a tool for sharing.
